We are thrilled to announce that our Eve has landed in a new country, India, where it plans to carry out many field inspections in the hands of our Customer there.

We have been working with Indian customers for years now, through our Data Processing Platform which helps them process their manual drone inspections data reliably and with fast report turnaround.

Now this collaboration has extended to the field inspections, and while many inspections are still done manually in India, for our Customer now it is an automated process, allowing them to achieve consistent quality in the inspections, regardless of the pilot experience. It also allows inspecting the turbine with just a single rotor stop, which decreases downtime and hassle regarding positioning each blade up.

Eve continues deploying worldwide and showing its capabilities in all environments.

As wind portfolios grow and inspection expectations rise, one trend is becoming increasingly clear:

Forward-thinking Owners and Operators and Independent Service Providers (ISPs) are no longer relying on a single drone unit.

They are investing in multiple Dhalion systems, not just to increase capacity, but to gain control, consistency, and resilience across their operations.

From Outsourced to In-House And Then to Scaled Capability

Several asset owners initially began with outsourced inspections as proof of concept.

For example, one of our in-house customers, first completed 30 inspections through an external Dhalion service model. Shortly after, they brought inspections in-house and acquired one Eve Dhalion unit for their teams in the North of Europe.

Why do people move in-house?

To empower local site managers or regional blade teams

To ensure data consistency across the entire fleet

To gain control and strengthen accountability with OEMs and repair providers

To gain speed and reduce bottlenecks

The result? Faster decision-making, full access to raw and processed imagery, and improved accountability across manufacturers, operators, and repair contractors.

But once inspections are internalised, the next question becomes strategic:

Why Some Owner and Operator Clients Are Moving to More Than One Unit?

Owning a single drone system gives control.

Owning multiple units gives scale and operational resilience.

For fleet owners operating across different regions or countries, multiple Dhalion units mean:

Inspecting assets in parallel across geographies (or even in the same one, as we did in As Somozas, 40 WTGs in two days)

Enable local teams to take advantage of a short weather window and complete more inspections in parallel in a single site

Have readily available drones in multiple sites for emergency inspections when required after a big storm or if your technicians notice/hear something you need to inspectMaintaining identical methodology and AI-driven classification everywhere

Consistency matters. When inspections are performed with the same hardware, same flight automation, and same AI platform, comparison across assets becomes reliable, not subjective.

For multi-country operators, having in-house drones eliminates the dependency on third-party schedules and reduces bottlenecks caused by logistics or weather windows.

One of the most transformative advantages for owners with multiple units is autonomy. A high level of responsiveness is only possible when inspection capacity is always available.

No waiting for external mobilisation.
No competing priorities.
No limited reporting formats.

Just a continuous, data-driven loop between inspection, analysis, and repair management.

Capacity Is Strategy for Independent Service Providers (ISPs)

For ISPs managing hundreds of inspections per year, scale and deliverables are not optional, they are contractual and strategic.

Take a company delivering:

500+ inspections per year

6-month campaigns across entire fleets

Now imagine responding to additional tenders covering hundreds or even thousands of turbines with strict contractual deadlines, all within the season.

A single drone system can become a bottleneck.

Multiple Dhalion units allow service providers to:

Duplicate capacity instantly

Deploy teams in parallel across different regions or in the same one, as one of our clients did in Italy

Extend scope mid-campaign when clients unexpectedly expand requirements

Maintain delivery even if one unit requires servicing

Mitigate logistical risks, such as battery transport constraints between countries

Redundancy becomes a risk management strategy.

More Units, Same Standard

Importantly, adding more units does not dilute quality, it standardises it. With automated flight paths and AI-assisted damage detection, teams across different geographies can produce consistent, high-definition data sets.

This enables:

AI Damage Detection and Classification.

Fleet-wide benchmarking

Transparent reporting

Faster inspection-to-decision cycles (as seen with up to 2× improvement in some transitions from outsourced models)

Scaling With Confidence

For asset owners, multiple Dhalion units mean control and accountability across regions.

For ISPs, they mean flexibility, competitive strength in tenders, and resilience under tight deadlines.

In both cases, the decision to expand from one unit to several is not simply about increasing inspection numbers.

It is about:

Protecting revenue

Reducing downtime risk

Strengthening data ownership

Building long-term operational independence

As fleets grow and expectations tighten, inspection capability is no longer just a technical tool.

It is a strategic asset.

On the 13th March, we had the pleasure of welcoming the Greek Ambassador, Yannis Tsaousis to our headquarters in Bristol.

We’re based at Future Space / Bristol Robotics Laboratory (BRL). BRL is the UK’s largest academic centre for multi-disciplinary robotics research, and Future Space is an innovation hub built for companies working on real-world, high-impact technology. It’s a place where research meets industry, and where ideas move quickly from concept to deployment.

During the visit to our offices and workshop, our Greek UK-based team, Kostas (CEO), Dimitris (COO) and Roi (Head of Customer Success), had the chance to share what we’re building at Perceptual Robotics, and how drone-based inspections combined with AI are changing the way wind turbine blades are maintained.

We also spoke about the strength of the Greek research community in Bristol. BRL and Future Space bring together engineers, scientists and founders from across the world, and it’s striking how many Greek researchers are contributing to that ecosystem.

We’re grateful for the time, the interest, and the support shown to both the Greek community in Bristol and our team in particular.

This new Case Study highlights Fred.Olsen Renewables’ 360º Approach to Blade Management and the in-housing of inspections in Scandinavia by adopting Eve Dhalion system for wind turbine blade inspections.

This new Case Study highlights Fred.Olsen Renewables’ 360º Approach to Blade Management and the in-housing of inspections in Scandinavia by adopting Eve Dhalion system for wind turbine blade inspections.

Fred.Olsen Renewables

Fred. Olsen Renewables is a leading developer, owner, and operator of renewable energy assets, primarily onshore wind. With 12 wind farms and 342 turbines across the UK, Norway, and Sweden, the company has an installed capacity of 804.9 MW.

Backed by a heritage of innovation dating back to 1848 Fred. Olsen Renewables combines long-term operational thinking with a strong commitment to sustainability and asset performance.

Target

By adopting Dhalion autonomous drone system, Fred. Olsen Renewables transitioned from outsourced inspections to a fully in-house inspection and repair management model in Scandinavia, gaining full data ownership, faster decision-making, and a single source of data for blade condition and repair management.

Challenges they were facing

Delayed and incomplete reporting, often limited to summary PDFs without access to raw data.

Dependency on external logistics, causing scheduling delays and lost inspection days.

Limited insight, lacking visibility into the true condition of their turbines + Repair data scattered across reports and files

The process

Fred. Olsen Renewables initially engaged Perceptual Robotics to validate data quality and workflow. Following this proof of concept, they brought inspections in-house by acquiring two Dhalion Eve systems for their teams in Sweden and Norway.

Inspections and repairs can now be managed through Perceptual Robotics’ web platform, centralising inspection data, damage tracking, and repair actions all accessible to internal teams and suppliers.

The results

Over the past two years, several severe blade cracks have been identified early through regular in-house inspections, including Category 5 crack damages.

In one case, a 30 cm crack was monitored through frequent inspection and found to increase the size considerably within one year. Early detection enabled immediate action, preventing major escalation and unplanned downtime,

In conclusion

By internalising inspections the loop between inspection, analysis, and repair has been closed.

The shift has reduced downtime, lowered costs, improved data consistency and the level of safety, and strengthened accountability -positioning Fred. Olsen Renewables not just as an operator, but as a leader in proactive, data-driven blade management.

Download the full details in our Case Studies page (link).

At Perceptual Robotics, our product evolution has been driven less by ambition and more by listening.

Listening to operators who need answers fast, not weeks later.
Listening to asset managers balancing inspection quality with cost, downtime, and risk.
Listening to teams who don’t want more data, but clearer decisions.

That’s what led us to focus on on-site wind turbine inspection capability, giving operators more control and reducing reliance on third-party mobilisation. It’s why we built a comprehensive classification framework, the Dhalion Guidelines for blade damages. And it’s why we introduced repair prioritisation logic, helping teams decide what needs fixing now versus what can safely wait, based on economic impact.

We’ve also learned that insight only creates value if it fits into existing workflows. Features like consistent blade damage categorisation, clear reporting structures, and actionable insights came directly from real operational constraints: weather windows in the wind farm, skills scarcity, and the pressure to do more with fewer resources and reducing friction rather than adding complexity.

Progress doesn’t always show up as big announcements. Often, it looks like quieter improvements that compound over time, shaped by a deepening understanding of the market.

That’s the journey we’re on, so join us and share your thoughts on what should be next! You can see more about our technology here

To ensure consistency and accuracy, we train our AI with strict standards. Our AI suggests blade damage type and severity and every assessment is reviewed by trained Blade Experts aligned with the same classification standards.

We began using the Bladena Standards, and have now transitioned into a more comprehensive framework: the Dhalion Guidelines.

Compared to previous classifications, the Dhalion Guidelines include:

A wider range of damage types to ensure we capture the variability in all blade types and materials.

Visual references to support accurate identification to provide consistency between Blade Experts.

Depth: We now take into account the depth of the damages (e.g. surface, outer/inner layer, through etc) alongside the type to classify with the appropriate severity and next action for a damage.

Damage classification: We have expanded on the damage classification tables that objectively define the severity of a damage based on key clear parameters like type, location, size, depth.

While these are defined in the guidelines they are also built in our AI system directly allowing any blade expert using our system to follow the guideline easily.

These guidelines are available to all our customers and can be shared on request. Contact us
