Two different technologies.
One useful combination.

During a recent proof of concept in Scotland, acoustic data from the Windrover monitoring sensor indicated unusual vibration patterns on a turbine blade.

The signal suggested that something might be happening, but acoustics alone cannot provide all the information.

A Dhalion inspection was then carried out on the turbine.

The drone inspection confirmed the presence and the type of blade damage in the area indicated by the acoustic system.

This is where the combination becomes interesting.

Continuous monitoring systems can alert operators when something unusual appears. Drone blade inspections can then verify the condition of the blade visually and in detail. And if the drone is an Eve sitting in the region or wind farm, this confirmation can be done even on the same day of the continuous monitoring system alert.

Detection.
Confirmation.
Faster decisions.

Quality in inspections isn’t only about the images you capture. It’s also about repeatability.

Quality in inspections isn’t only about the images you capture.

It’s also about repeatability.

If two inspections of the same turbine produce completely different results, comparing damage progression becomes difficult.

The Dhalion system was designed with condition monitoring and repeatability in mind.

The drone follows a predefined automatic flight path, capturing images at consistent positions every time. During processing, the matching system aligns inspection images with centimetre-level accuracy.

That combination, consistent flight and precise image matching, makes it possible to compare inspections across time, across turbines, and even across different pilots.

That together with our side by side display helps the end user have control of the inspection data and monitor changes across time.

When the process stays stable, the data becomes far more useful.

And that’s where real insight starts to appear and we can talk about condition monitoring and preventative maintenance.

Sometimes customers surprise you and leave you speechless. This time, two of our customers made our day on the same day!

We got flowers (that we split in several vases!) and chocolate in our Bristol office from Skyforest (Sweden) with a lovely note about our support.

We also got Rotortech (India) happily describing in Linkedin how patient support was and how our automation had changed their daily work for better.

For the Support team which works under stress and tight deadlines to help in real time our customers in the field, getting this has been invaluable. Helping others remotely is always a challenge, connection issues, language barriers, everyone under pressure in the field and in the office. So getting this from two of our customers has been a great surprise and highly appreciated by all the team. We can only say thank you publicly to Skyforest and Rotortech and to our great Support team!
