In a 2023 project, our team demonstrated the efficiency and adaptability of our inspection operations. As now this wind farm has undergone repowering and these old turbines are not there anymore, it is worth reflecting on the challenges of managing a large site with old turbines. The wind farm had 80 turbines equipped with aero brake technology, and there was very limited availability of technicians to stop the turbines. The project was located in a place  characterised by having too much wind or none.

With this in mind, we designed an operation to complete inspections within the narrow window of opportunity due to technician availability. We were able to inspect turbines in winds up to 12 m/s, as well as in nearly no wind, even when turbines couldn’t be repositioned.

The operation was executed flawlessly: in just two days, we completed 40 turbine inspections, delivering high-quality data with a fast turnaround for the Owner and Operator. And as an extra we generated a report on aero brake health status.
