Renewable FS Uses Dot to Complete 20 Inspections in a Day – Even in Challenging Conditions

Renewable Field Services (Renewable FS) is a blade specialist contractor providing inspection, repair, and maintenance services for wind turbine operators across multiple regions. Traditional inspection methods often meant delays. Low- or no-wind days were lost as “weather delay days,” while flight path errors and lidar glitches caused interruptions and inefficiencies. To scale their services and deliver more reliable results, Renewable FS needed a smarter solution.

Impact Beyond Productivity

The results have been immediate and measurable. Renewable FS carried out more than 400 inspections in 2024. Using the Dot drone, their team even set a record of 20 inspections in a single day, showing both the efficiency of the process and the robustness of the technology. Perhaps most importantly, low-wind days are no longer considered downtime. 

As Renewable FS explained, “The ability to now inspect on low/no wind days due to not requiring the rotor to be positioned has significantly reduced our down time. This has therefore increased our seasonal productivity.”
