Drones and Acoustics monitoring combined
Two different technologies.
One useful combination.
During a recent proof of concept in Scotland, acoustic data from the Windrover monitoring sensor indicated unusual vibration patterns on a turbine blade.
The signal suggested that something might be happening, but acoustics alone cannot provide all the information.
A Dhalion inspection was then carried out on the turbine.
The drone inspection confirmed the presence and the type of blade damage in the area indicated by the acoustic system.
This is where the combination becomes interesting.
Continuous monitoring systems can alert operators when something unusual appears. Drone blade inspections can then verify the condition of the blade visually and in detail. And if the drone is an Eve sitting in the region or wind farm, this confirmation can be done even on the same day of the continuous monitoring system alert.
Detection.
Confirmation.
Faster decisions.
