Optimising Inspections in Every Way While Breaking Internal Records

When it comes to working in the field, we know exactly how it feels. While we describe ourselves as a company that delivers cutting-edge inspection technology to clients worldwide, we also conduct our own inspections.

This hands-on activity allows us to test not only our systems but also our operational workflows. We document every challenge, review our processes, and continuously refine them to make field operations as smooth and efficient as possible.

As part of this ongoing improvement, we also update the documentation that accompanies our equipment and training, from detailed checklists to sun dialers and practical tips designed to make inspections more efficient.

We’re proud to share that one of our pilots, Alex, broke our internal record this summer by inspecting 17 wind turbines in a single day! Even more impressively, one of our clients managed to inspect 20 turbines in a day using our technology. Considering both achievements took place in the UK, where weather conditions are rarely ideal, these are remarkable results.

Both records were achieved while maintaining the highest image quality, perpendicularity, and full autonomous coverage of all three blades across four sides.

In Alex’s case, the 17 turbines were inspected in random blade positions due to a planned substation downtime and the asset owner experienced zero downtime due to inspections this year. Blade repositioning was not available which can be challenging when it comes to lighting and perpendicularity.

Accomplishments like these are only possible with a robust inspection system like Dot — our autonomous drone solution that delivers efficient, high-quality results even in the most challenging conditions.
